Bazaar Indulgence is turning their name into Bazaar InTrouble, in a potential scam case. Remember I told you that I'd be having a
bazaar at Far East Plaza on 16 Jan? That was the day Daniel was planning to spring a
surprise proposal to Emily at the bazaar but the event got cancelled. That event was organized by Bazaar Indulgence. This was what happened next -
BI was to refund their vendors money. However, they sent an email to me and say they'd be organizing another event at Far East on 22 Feb instead. Asked if we'd reconsider giving 'em a chance. Eun, Bryan and I have decided to pull out. I asked for a refund but did not hear from BI for a week. Being me, I got impatient and bombarded 'em with emails. Left messages on Facebook wall too. The usual customer ridiculous tantrum. Hey, it's $160. I've got my $160 refund, but they still owe me $10.
While lamenting about my sad $10 to Eunice, she found out that Bazaar Indulgence could potentially be a scam from forums. Apparently, tons of girls have not gotten their refund yet. Far East Org also advised that there was no events planned on the 22 Feb. The girls got suspicious, and called the number who sent 'em the sms to say that the event is cancelled. The lady of the number picked up, and said the girls have gotten the wrong number, stop harrassing her or she'd file a police report.
Today, I smsed one of the girls in the forum who left her number. She was gathering all victims together to file another police report. Wanted to support 'em, in hopes of having $10 returned. I know, I'm quite sad. Found out from her that one lady named Jane Lim is hoarding all the money. Her BI partners couldn't contact her.
You can click
here and
here for input by the girls in the forum. Someone talked to the victimized BI partner, did a bit of digging and
the lady in the picture could potentially be the scammer.
What are your thoughts?
31/01 UPDATE:#01 Apparently, Jane Lim's husband is a
staff sergent in S'pore Police Force, according to forums. He claimed that delay in making refund is not a scam (click
here to see his chat with a vendor, it's worth your time).
Yes, it's so hard not to assume it's a scam when vendors checked with the mall to find out that your event is not registered, your wife disappeared into thin air by not returning emails, calls or smses. Then reappearing like magic when police reports are filed and netizens went crazy. #02 One of the vendors in the forum claimed that he or she charged down to NUS, knowing Jane Lim was there, organizing another bazaar. Asked her for refund and was ignored. Took out a handphone to start recording her. Jane Lim was pissed and said it is against the law to video a person without permission. Vendor said it's against the law to keep people's money. Jane Lim retorted, "You guys transferred money to me on your own accord."
Yes, provided in exchange for a service or a product. Which in this case, none. #03 If you enter keywords "Jane Lim and Keith Chua", Google returns the top three searches (1) Style Wedding's Most Beautiful Couple (2) Style Wedding's News Flash - same story as first search (3) This biaaatch scammed people's money.
#04 My sad sod of $10 has been returned. Case is now closed. For me.
02/02 UPDATE:Is it a bad management of cashflow or is Jane Lim a real scammer? If it's a mismanagement of cashflow, why avoid all smses, emails or Facebook messages for two whole weeks? Why change your handphone number when vendors call?
Turns out it's more screwed up than I thought. The organizer was formerly banned from bazaar forums under different names. Then she returned as Bazaar Indulgence.

Bloody hell. It's like Emily from The Orphan. Going from family to family under different identities, then murdering her foster parents and setting her foster home on fire. I think bazaars give great opportunities to young ladies in running a business. I love how enterprising and creative young ladies are. But I think some bad apples can really spoil the whole market.
Someone in this forum invested $1000+ in inventory, for this bazaar only to have her wonderful business opportunity of good-timing-and-good-location to end up in smokes (like Emily's foster home). Costly lessons, but sometimes you've got to learn it the hard way.
